5 Signs Your Landing Page Is Losing You Customers (and How to Fix It)
You’re paying for ads, people land on your landing page, and then… nothing. No email, no form filled out, no sale. Traffic isn’t the problem — the page is. These are the five most common signs we find when auditing landing pages that don’t convert.
1. The main message isn’t clear in 5 seconds
A visitor decides in seconds whether to keep reading or leave. If your headline doesn’t immediately answer “what is this and why does it matter to me?”, you’ve already lost half the people before they read anything else.
Fix it: the main headline should communicate the concrete benefit, not a generic phrase like “the best solution for your business.” Be specific about what you solve and for whom.
2. There are too many options or distractions
A full navigation menu, five different links, buttons that lead to different pages — all of that gives the visitor reasons to leave before converting. An effective landing page has one goal and one path toward it.
Fix it: remove the site’s standard navigation from the landing page. Leave a single call to action, repeated at two or three points on the page, not ten options competing with each other.
3. The form asks for too much
Every extra field on a form lowers your conversion rate. Asking for phone number, company, job title, and budget before someone trusts you yet is asking for too much, too soon.
Fix it: ask for the bare minimum for first contact (usually name and email). The rest can be asked later, once a conversation is already underway.
4. There’s no proof this actually works
Claiming you’re good isn’t the same as proving it. Without testimonials, concrete numbers, or real case studies, you’re asking the visitor to trust your word alone.
Fix it: add at least one concrete proof point — a real number, a named testimonial, a recognizable client logo. It doesn’t take much, but it needs to be verifiable.
5. The page loads slowly or looks bad on mobile
Most campaign traffic arrives from mobile. If the page is slow to load or the form is awkward to fill out from a phone, you’re losing conversions before the visitor even sees your offer.
Fix it: test the page on your own phone, using mobile data (not wifi). If the wait frustrates you, it’s frustrating your visitor too.
The pattern behind all five signs
They all point to the same thing: every element on the page should push toward a single action, with no friction or distraction. A landing page isn’t a shrunk-down version of your website — it’s a conversion tool with one job to do.
If you have a landing page running paid traffic right now and you’re not sure which of these five is costing you conversions, that’s exactly the kind of diagnosis we do in the free strategy session.
